Work Witchery

There are many things you cannot control about your workspace, especially if you work in a factory or office cubicle. But no matter your profession or work setup, you can make your area more magical with some easy tweaks.

WHAT TO WEAR

Consider the clothes you wear to work. Or your underwear, if there is a uniform policy! Wear clothes in colours that reflect your intention for the day:

YELLOW: To make friends at work.

WHITE: For peace.

BLACK: To absorb negativity from customers or a picky boss.

RED: To be noticed more by your boss, or by customers on the sales floor.

TYPES OF JEWELLERY

Jewellery can also bring magic to your work day.

  • Wear earrings if you want to improve your listening skills or get someone to listen to you.
  • An anklet will ground you in reality.
  • A bracelet worn on the left arm will help you to listen to your emotions and take the emotions of others into account. A bracelet on the right arm will help you to be more decisive and take action.

GOLD: Attracts financial and general business success.

SILVER: Hones your intuition, helping you to find good opportunities. PLATINUM: Helps you to be a strong leader.

AMBER: Diffuses tension in the office.

BLACK OBSIDIAN: Absorbs negativity.

JADE AND EMERALD: Attract money to you.

YOUR DESK

If your job is desk-bound, you have a lot of options when it comes to decorating your working environment in a witchy way!

Consider animal objects as decoration to gain the assistance of the animal spirits. For example:

  • A photo of your dog on your desk will increase the loyalty of those working for you.
  • A pendant of a bear will keep you strong in the face of adversity.
  • A drawing of an eagle on your wall will allow you to see the bigger picture.
  • A white feather will bring peace and contentment to the office.

CRYSTAL COMPANIONS

You can keep crystals anywhere on your desk. If they turn pale and lose their colour, recharge them by washing them under water then burying them in salt for a few days. Leave them out in the sunlight and moonlight before using them again.

CLEAR QUARTZ: To gain more energy and attract positive attention.

TIGER’S EYE: For general business success.

HEMATITE: To feel more grounded and stay on task.

CITRINE: To make customers or co-workers be more friendly toward you.

AMETHYST: To absorb excess radiation and keep the computer running well (if you work on a computer or with other electronics).

CLEAR THE AIR

Harness the power of scent and flavour in your working space to sweeten the air—both literally and magically!

  • While you can’t burn incense at your desk (unless you work from home), you can make yourself a nice cup of herbal tea (see box below). Alternatively, use essential oils in a diffuser, or a drop on your office chair, for a similar result.
  • Sprinkle rose water around discreetly. It cleanses the space of negativity and brings positive energy—and most people, if they smell it, will just think that someone has got a bouquet of flowers!
  • Sweeten up picky customers, stressed co-workers, or a demanding boss with a bowl of white peppermint candy or liquorice to clear the air and reduce negativity. When a negative person takes a piece, chant the following in your head: “I deserve respect, my work deserves respect, you will respect my space and job!”

HERBAL HELP

PEPPERMINT: If there is negativity and strife in the office, walk around with a steaming cup of peppermint tea to clear the air.

CHAMOMILE: If it’s a stressful week, brew chamomile tea.

ORANGE PEKOE: To get justice in a work dispute, drink broken orange pekoe tea.

BAY LEAF: To get the project you want, add a bay leaf to your tea of choice.
